Privacy Policy

Babbl ("we", "us") provides real-time subtitle services for Google Meet through our Chrome Extension. This document explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

1. What We Collect

Audio: When you press Start in the extension, we capture audio from your Google Meet tab. This audio is sent to our servers for speech recognition and translation. We do not keep recordings.
Transcripts: The audio becomes text in real time. Once subtitles are delivered, the text is discarded. We do not store transcripts.
Preferences: Your chosen target language is saved locally in your browser using chrome.storage.
Debug Logs (optional): If you turn on debug logging, technical information is stored in your browser. You can download these logs to share with support. They never leave your device unless you send them.
Account Info: If you sign in, we use your Google account ID and email to track usage according to your organization's plan. We do not sell or share this information.

2. How We Use It

To generate and deliver translated subtitles.
To monitor for errors so we can fix problems quickly.
To enforce usage limits for paid plans.

3. Who Else Sees It

We use third-party providers for speech-to-text and translation. These services process audio in real time and do not retain it. We have contracts in place that require them to protect your data.

We do not sell your data.

4. Your Choices

On/Off: Transcription only runs when you click Start. Close the popup or click Stop and audio capture ends immediately.
Local Data: Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored preferences and logs.
Account Deletion: Email us if you want your account and usage records removed.

5. Security

All traffic between the extension and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Audio is processed on the fly and not written to disk.

6. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
